Instructors

Mr. Norman Spiller is Urban Qi FIT's Assistant Instructor in Qigong and Taijiquan. He has studied and trained with Dr. Woodbine for nearly 20 years and is currently authorized to teach a variety of Qigong learned from Dr. Woodbine (Tao Yin Fa, Inner Smile, Six Healing Sounds, Microcosmic Orbit, Tai Chi Qigong) as well as the Introduction to the Taijiquan Long Form (Yang Family Style as taught by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming) and Pushing Hands.

Part of what makes Mr. Spiller an excellent teacher is his steadfast commitment to his own training and development. This engenders patience with his students coupled with an ability to gently guide them through their growth in their training process. His prior training and practice in therapeutic massage and Cranio-Sacral Therapy contribute deeply to his understanding of the energetics of Qigong and Taijiquan which benefits those whom are privileged to study with him.

I have been continually training in Qi Gong and Tai Chi forms and exercises with Dr. Woodbine for almost 20 years. During that time, I have taken numerous workshops led by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming in Boston, Massachusetts as well as a week-long training session at the YMAA California Retreat Center. I have also studied with Dr.Yang's disciples Addison Martin, Jonathan Chang, Michelle Lin, and Quentin Lopes. Additionally, I studied Swimming Dragon, 8 Pieces of Brocade, and Rising Drill with Grandmaster Roosevelt Gainey.

I am a New York State licensed massage therapist (L.Ac.) and have studied Chinese medicine as it relates to Shiatsu. I am trained in Cranio-Sacral Therapy which has enhanced my sensitivity and awareness of the flow of energy (Chi) in my body and in others. This compliments my Qi Gong and Tai Chi practice and teaching.
